Dr. Ricardo De Pol Holz
Associate researcher

I am a marine Biologist with a PhD in Oceanography from the University of Concepción. My doctoral research was on ocean sedimentary nitrogen isotopes and climate change during the past 70,000 yrs. In 2006 I was granted with the CICOR Postdoctoral Felolowship at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (Massachusetts, USA) where I worked with Dr. Lloyd Keigwin on the radiocarbon variability of Intermediate Waters off Chile (Nature Geoscience, 2010). Then I moved to the earth System Department of the University of California, Irvine where I worked a s a postdoctoral scholar at the Keck Radiocarbon facility with Dr. John Southon. I came back to Chile as an assistant professor at the Oceanography department of the University of Concepción and then moved to Punta Arenas as an Associate Researcher at the GAIA-Antártica Research Center (CIGA). I have authored more than 50 ISI papers on a wide range of topics that use radiocarbon as a chronological tool as well as a tracer of the Carbon cycle and the inner workings of life on Earth.
